BlueCrest University College Liberia was awarded a grant on 16 March 2023 to conduct the implementation of Component 3, Pathway 3 youth, Future Proof Skills (FPS), in Montserrado. Future Proof Skills (FPS) are those abilities and competencies that are expected to remain valuable and relevant despite changes in technology, industries, and the job market. USAID, being a major player in international development, often emphasizes skills that are essential for addressing global challenges and contributing to sustainable development.
USAID Youth Advanced FPS
- Equips youth with essential skills for personal, professional success, fostering healthy work habits.
- Prepares post-secondary students and graduates with comprehensive job readiness training.
- Tailored to empower youth in navigating a dynamic, uncertain world.
USAID Youth Advanced FPS was delivered in 4 phases
- Career Pathways Foundation (2 months): In Phase 1, youth got a better understanding of workplace trends and needs and start developing your work readiness skills.
- Workplace Project Integration & Preparation (1 month): Phase 2 was devoted to developing youth projects.
- Project Implementation (2 months): Phase 3 was when youth implement their project. Youth were still coming to class and learn about cross-cutting topics. Youth were also trained on special series (such as Be Your Own Boss).
- Career Pathways Future Forward (1 Month): In phase 4, youth shared their accomplishments from their project and were prepared for job seeking or starting your business.
Upon completion, BlueCrest University College, Liberia successfully hosted certification ceremony which was a closed event only for youth to celebrate the completion of the training. The program started on 26 April 2024 at 11:00 am by praying and thanking the Almighty God in the seminar hall of BlueCrest campus which has the seating capacity of 150 personnel. At 11:15 am, Dr. Shailesh Kumar, President of BlueCrest welcomed all the youth, trainers, Mr. William Marshall (representative from Education Development Centre (EDC)) & others and commenced the certification program.
He expressed his happiness that youth remained motivated, focused and energetic throughout the training and reach to the goal and congratulated youth on reaching their pivotal moment in their lives! Dr. Kumar stated “as youth stand on the threshold of new beginnings, I want to take a moment to remind you of the incredible journey that lies ahead. Today marks the conclusion of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. You’ve faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and emerged stronger and more resilient than ever before. But this is just the beginning. As you step out into the world, remember that you are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and talents to make a difference. Each of you possesses unique gifts and abilities that have the power to shape the world around you”. He also expressed his gratitude to USAID for funding the Youth Advanced Project (YAP), and congratulated EDC team on its successful implementation and guidance provided to BlueCrest team on timely basis.
It was followed by the USAID-YA P3 FPS Program Overview address by Dr. Anand Kumar Gupta, success stories shared by selected youth, special remark by Mr. William Marshall, certification ceremony, remarks by selected youth, site trainers, and ended with the vote of thanks by site trainer.
